This 22” x 14” detailed drawing of the Pequod from Herman Melville's classic "Moby Dick" was created for my book Plotted: A Literary Atlas. The drawing features various cutaways to show the interior structure of the ship below deck, and the particular above deck fittings of a whaling ship like the try-works and cutting stage. This original drawing was added onto digitally for Plotted to show and name the sails, as well as numbered keys to name the various holds and sections (last pic). But for me the simple line work makes it one of my favorite pieces of paper, and it took around 50 hours to create.
