"View from the Cross Street Bridge, 2/28/21"

$200.00

This painting was created with a ink and gouache on 140lb Arches Hot Press paper. The painting is 8”x10”. The view is looking upstream on the Medomak River in Waldoboro, ME form the Cross Street Bridge at the old, but still in service, rail bridge. It was one of those ethereally lovely winter sunsets. The weather was warm for February: one of those hints of spring beginning to poke through the Maine winter, where there’s a hint of humidity creating a lovely diffusion of light. I was driving back from Augusta and racing to get to this bridge before the sun went down, and caught it just in time to photograph it, and I’ve been itching to have a chance to paint it ever since.

The process of the painting is an underpainting created with a “gouache ink resist” underpainting, with gouache on top. If you’re interested in the process, I did more of a full documentation here: https://www.instagram.com/p/CIV9DNqDUaX/.
